ABOUT

The heart behind Poppy

Hi, I’m Samantha

BOARD-CERTIFIED FAMILY NURSE PRACTITIONER (FNP-BC)

Nurse practitioner, mom, reality TV connoisseur, and the person behind every needle at Poppy.

My goal is simple: you leave feeling seen, heard, and like yourself, just a little more confident. Here's how I got there.

My path wasn't exactly a straight line. I started college thinking I'd go into psychology, and I did — I have a bachelor's degree in it. But somewhere along the way I realized I wanted to actually do something with what I was learning about people, not just study it, so I went back to school for a second bachelor's in nursing.

From there, I landed in the Pediatric ICU at Children's Hospital in DC, where I spent five years learning what it really means to stay calm under pressure and pay attention to the details that matter. During this time, I simultaneously went through grad school to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Since then I've worked in primary care, which is where I learned to truly listen to patients and treat the whole person, not just the thing they came in for.

Aesthetics found me on the side of all that, and it stuck, because it's the perfect mix of the science I've spent my whole career learning, and giving patients the confidence they didn’t necessarily know they needed.

But if you ask me what I actually care about most, it's not Botox. It's you leaving here feeling accepted and heard, like you just spent an hour with a friend who happens to have a medical degree. That's the whole point of Poppy: real clinical training, an eye for what looks natural, and a room where you never have to explain yourself twice.

THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME

Named for Poppy

Everyone asks about the name eventually, so here's the story.

Poppy was my grandfather. That's what we all called him, and it just stuck. He wasn't the guy who taught me to be careful or play it safe. He taught me to be independent. To trust myself. To do things my own way instead of the way everyone else said I should. He was the closest thing I had to a father growing up, and honestly, a lot of who I am, as a mom, as a provider, as a person who doesn't love being told what to do, traces back to him.

When it came time to name this practice, it wasn't really a decision. It just felt right. Poppy Aesthetics carries his name because everything I do here is built on what he gave me: confidence, independence, and the belief that you don't have to change who you are to feel like the best version of yourself.
